CAPTION CONTEST: Help me deface this bally total fitness ad.

March 11, 2012

In the women’s bathroom of my favorite bar, in every single stall is this horribly stupid ad from bally total fitness that reads:

If you’ve got it, flaunt it. If you don’t, try Bally Total Fitness.

Of course, this text is accompanied by a picture of a slim HEADLESS white woman in a bikini. Making clear that she’s “got it”, and if you don’t look like her, say because you’re non-white, wear the average woman’s size or have head, that you don’t got it and certainly should not flaunt it.

These ads have been up forever and its time to take a stand for all my beer drinking comrades. I’ve got a sharpie, you just gotta help me figure out what to write.

There are three of them up so we can have THREE WINNERS. Each receiving a PERSONALIZED PHOTO of the defacing you helped contribute to. And an IN PERSON HUG.

I would say just scratch out words until it says “You’ve got it, flaunt it” and then change it to screw bally fitness you’re awesome just the way you are.

Or put a big x over the headless picture and put…. you can flaunt it right now, you don’t have to change yourself first.

Or just scribble over the whole darn thing and write … Love yourself as you are right now!

Or put …you don’t have to look like this to “have it and flaunt it”

Awesome suggestions! If I see one of these, I’m doing your first idea!

Perhaps — “I don’t flaunt it because YOU CAN’T HANDLE IT.”

wow this makes me SO MAD. i hate gym advertisements. like why can’t “love the skin you’re in” be a motto? why do we have to change our bodies to love them? we’ve all “got it.” our bodies are all worth loving and treating right. self magazine is notoriously bad about equating self esteem to body esteem and it’s a load of crap! oh the media…

I’m sure your contest is over, but here’s my idea: If you flaunt it, you’ve got it. If you don’t flaunt it, you’ve still got it.

I second Alexandra’s idea! Ooo…. also, how about this? Cross out “if” and “if you”. Then with a few more tweaks you can write: “You’ve got it. Flaunt it. Don’t try Bally Fitness.” Perhaps throw in a “You are fucking awesome right now – those fools just want your money!” for good measure.

The sad part is, this stresses a lot of girls into “going to the gym”. UGH. Annoying. I love that: “You’ve got it, flaunt it. DOn’t try bally fitness”. The ultimate turnaround!

If you’ve got it flaunt it, if you don’t then flaunt it anyway. Be Happy with who you are! Think I might be a bit late for the contest.
