Science! has found it. The obesity gene. Well, the “fatso” gene. Astronomers name stars after famous people and mythical figures, but hey, I guess when you’re a scientist you can just call your discoveries whatever the fat-shaming hell you want.

Their research shows that obesity has a genetic component which can be offset in youth by about an hour of exercise a day. Wow! Hey fatties, if you have the “fatso” gene, you better get moving! or else you’ll be…oh, wait a minute…

One gene involved with obesity, the FTO gene, packs on the pounds when it shows up in a variant form. Adults who carry two copies of the gene variant — about 1 in 6 people — weigh on average 7 pounds more than people who don’t.
Seven pounds? The “fatso” gene is associated with seven pounds greater body weight? Seven pounds is “[packing] it on”? Science, you have to be shitting me.

    The article also didn’t clarify whether that statistic controlled for height, body type/bone structure, etc.
