Say Hello to Your Vaginal Corona

December 9, 2009

Vaginal Corona.

That’s the name that the Swedish Association for Sexuality Eduction has given to the membrane formerly known as the hymen.

Check out their press release. (Be sure to scroll down and download the PDF explaining the change and dispelling many common myths about the hymen/vaginal corona). It’s awesome to see an organization spreading accurate information about human sexuality!

oh that booklet was so good. Thanks for posting this! I especially liked the “Does it hurt the ‘first time'” section, where it explains how lack of lubrication is to blame rather than “breaking the hymen”.

For a woman to enjoy vaginal intercourse – regardless of how many times she has done it and what is being inserted in her vagina – she needs to be aroused and
lubricated (wet). … It doesn’t matter whether it’s her first, second or tenth time. It’s important to recognize the key role played by a woman’s clitoris in sexual arousal and enjoyment.

    amen.

Phew! Judging from the title, I worried this would be about a beer ad.

Or perhaps an innovative horn player (though that’d be vaginal coronet, I suppose)

    Or a tiara.

But, this is pretty awesome too. Thanks, Sweden!
